"COIMBATORE: The federation of district auto workers' union has decided to sit on a day long hunger strike at Gandhipuram here in the city on January 28 condemning the delay in announcing minimum auto rickshaw fares in the district. The auto rickshaw unions have been demanding the government fix the minimum fare for Coimbatore as 30 with 15 for every additional kilometre. The union-proposed rates are higher than that of the 25 minimum fare fixed in Chennai. They insist that the Chennai rates are not feasible in Coimbatore as it is a much smaller city..."
